Green Aventurine is a beautiful translucent quartz.
The stone shimmers due to thousands of tiny, reflective, mica inclusions.
Its name comes from the Italian phrase “a ventura” which means “by chance.”
The story goes, that Aventurine was created when copper filings spilled into molten glass.
The gemstone was discovered later, but given the same name due to their similar visual
properties.
Major deposits are found near the cities of Chennai and Mysore in India, as well as Brazil, Tanzania, and Russia.
As you might expect there are many cultural traditions throughout history that include the lovely Aventurine.
Ancient Ethiopians used to make tools out of Aventurine.
