Tiger's Eye

Tiger’s Eye stones are a perfect example of nature’s ability to replicate organic beauty in inorganic matter.

The gem’s unique banding occurs when parallel strands of crocidolite are replaced by iron and silica during the stone’s formation.

The resulting semi-holographic glow is called chatoyancy.

Like the powerful creature that gives Tiger’s eye its name, this gemstone has a reputation for strength and ferocity.

The Greeks and Romans wore this stone in amulets meant to heighten the senses, offering protection, and dispel fear.

Ancient Egyptians and Chinese also believed it had special power.

South Africa has the largest known deposits of Tiger’s eye, but the stone has also been found in Namibia, Australia, India and Thailand.
